Culture Factory Zagreb
The most famous concert hall of the alternative scene was certainly the biggest project of our young career. The space, which actually never underwent a complete dedicated reconstruction, was above all a time challenge considering that the entire reconstruction was carried out in only three months.
The comprehensive reconstruction project included spatial intervention in order to maximize the capacity of the hall, stylistic definition of the space and overall installation adaptation. In order to achieve the highest possible reception capacity and a more meaningful spatial organization, our first intervention was the demolition of the previous VIP galleries that were located on the side walls of the main hall. With the demolition of the gallery, a large floor space was opened up, which until then was closed by the gallery's structures, the spatial connection of the small and large plant was made possible, a new and more direct position of the VIP zone, which is now moved opposite the main stage and a more meaningful fluctuation of visitors to mobile and fixed bars. In terms of interior design, large wall surfaces that had previously been entirely painted black were broken up by applying old bricks to the main side walls to give the space its real dimension, which the black paint had previously "camouflaged". The partition zones were made of iron metal profiles coated in black, with glass fillings, ensuring visibility of almost the entire Factory space from all entry points. The capacity of the bars for 300% was increased, and each spatial zone received one fixed and several mobile bars. The spatial intervention of demolishing the galleries, relocating the bar and the sanitary corridor increased the capacity of the Small Facility, which functions entirely independently for smaller concert activations.
